Morpheus
PAWD Morpheus of FCF, G4 Colorado Mountain Dog, born June 2022, 120lb
Morpheus is the Colorado Mountain Dog who started it all for us when we had finally had enough of our poultry (especially the ducks) being taken by predators. He came to us as a 12 week old, very big, very fluffy puppy with the most pleasant personality, a total love bug and a good boy all around. His breeder, Jen Taylor of Pawsable Dreams Vista in CO, gave him a great start with the help of her CMDR, teaching him the ways of an LGD pup in training.
Morpheus grew up with our 2023 goat kids and they became his. Often we’d find Flora (mini nubian doeling) curled up with Morpheus or standing over him while he slept. It was truly incredible watching this super young dog bond with new baby goats and how easily they trusted and bonded to him. They grew up together and even weaned the goats together. Unfortunately he had a shoulder injury and needed surgery with 12 weeks of house rest and a change of pace, which took some figuring out. Morpheus was moved to work the poultry area which is a more quiet area, where he could sleep a lot and guard while lying down, popping up when needed. This worked well for continued healing.
Morpheus is just awesome with the poultry and I think he likes the slower pace of the poultry area, the chickens feel safe around him and the turkey love him, they clean him and follow him around. The only threat he ever poses to the chickens is when he sneaks into the chicken coop and eats an egg, he sure does like fresh eggs.
Morpheus is a gentle soul, very sensitive and is addicted to his humans even more than his animals. He is a leaner! Morpheus positions his ribs against our legs and leans, hard, transferring all of his good energy to the person he is leaning on. It is the most incredible feeling! Morpheus is good with people but knows his job is to protect his charges and will bark to alert us if anyone comes onto our property, then making eye contact with me to read my vibe about the guest. He can read my thoughts and we have unspoken conversations and communication about situations every day.
Morpheus is my heart dog!
Alex
PAWD Alexandra of FCF, G3 Colorado Mountain Dog, born February 2023, dew claws, 75lb
Alex is our intact female, not to be confused by her name, she’s all girl! Morpheus needed a buddy so our friend Jen sent us Alex, knowing that they truly work better in pairs or small packs for many reasons, but I’ll touch on that elsewhere.
Our sweet and spunky Alex came to us when she was 5 months old , months older than Morpheus when when he came to us. Jen told us that Alex has different energy than Morpheus, she was labeled as “junk yard dog” in her profiling tests. It made me a little nervous but Jen said that these tests aren’t always right and that Alex would be perfect for us.
Jen was right, Alex’s energy was very different from our chill Morpheus. She is always on, ready to protect, alert and does not miss a thing! In her early months here, she stayed in the doe barn overnight, and when let out in the morning, she would bolt around the doe lot trying to catch any squirrel that was in her path. She is FAST and incredibly agile!!! I found so much joy in her morning bolts!
Alex is AMAZING with the goats, she is their caregiver, she knows when someone is “off”, she tends to them both big and small but she LOVES her baby boats most of all! She cleans butts, she checks ears, she lets them climb on her, leap off her and snuggle up in any which way they want. It’s a beautiful thing!
Poultry? She’s great with poultry also. Her higher energy made her training a bit different than with Morpheus but she is so loving that she was easy to finish her poultry training here. Alex got a coon that had wandered into the poultry lot and made sure her birds stayed safe! She never enters the coop and never steals eggs.
While Alex is higher energy, she is the sweetest and most empathetic girl, so kind and gentle, so loving and so wise. While Alex can be a little shy around strangers, she likes to check them over and then let the stranger know when it’s ok to pet her.
Alex is our hardest working dog and I love her for that!
Alex was bred by T23 Jackson of FCF for G4 Colorado Mountain Dogs in September 2024 and we are taking reservations for working Colorado Mountain Dog puppies. Contact us to get on our wait list!
Jackson
T23 Jackson of FCF, G3 Colorado Mountain Dog, born August 2023, brindle, clean legged, intact, 120lb
With Morpheus needing surgery and the uncertainty of him returning to work, Alex needed a working partner. This dog needed to be stellar and a possible breeding partner for Alex should we decide to breed her. I wanted another male with Morpheus’s vibe, chill, easy going, loving his humans and knowing his job of guarding his charges.
Then enters Jackson! Jackson has been a dream come true, checking off every single box and then some!
Jackson came to us as a 12 week old pup, very much like Morpheus. He had his own personality but his vibe was so cool and chill, and still is. Jackson sailed through all training, getting a good head start from his breeder, Lindsey Hassell at Tierhaus 23 in Colorado, and being so willing to learn from our older dogs and from us. His intelligence and intuition are spot on! Jackson also got a coon that wandered onto our farm, keeping the roosting Thanksgiving turkeys safe.
Jackson just knows his job! He is so good with the goats and excels with the poultry. He is amazing with people, a big mush of a dog. Jackson is so easy, easy going and easy to train. We hit the jackpot with this boy!
Jackson bred Alex in September 2024 for our first litter of CMDR pups that will be born here Pennsylvania! Contact us to get on our waitlist today!
